Connect & Restore Therapy

Monthly Newsletter — November 2025

Theme: Trauma Healing & Building Safety

Hello friend,
November nudges us inward—toward reflection, rest, and rooting ourselves in what matters most. As we continue our multi-part trauma series, this month we’re focusing on how healing actually happens: through connection, through safety, and through small, consistent practices that help your nervous system feel grounded again.

Whether you’re actively in therapy or just taking steps to learn more about yourself, I’m so glad you’re here.

Featured Trauma Series Topic

The Window of Tolerance: Finding Your Safe Zone

When trauma shapes our lives, the brain and body can remain stuck in survival mode. You may find yourself:

Inside your Window of Tolerance
• Emotions feel manageable
• You can think clearly
• You feel connected and capable

Outside your Window of Tolerance
• Fight/flight: anxiety, anger, panic
• Freeze: numbness, detachment, shutdown

The important part: your window is not fixed.
It can grow with safety, skills, and supportive relationships.

Healing is not about never being triggered; it’s about being able to return to safety with more confidence and self-kindness.

Trauma-Informed Wellness Practice

Grounding With Your Senses

Use this when emotions feel overwhelming or you feel disconnected.

  1. Notice 5 things you can see

  2. Notice 4 things you can touch

  3. Notice 3 things you can hear

  4. Notice 2 things you can smell

  5. Notice 1 thing you can taste or a calming breath

This quick exercise helps bring your body and brain back into the present moment.

Therapy Insight

“Triggers” Are Invitations, Not Failures

When something activates a painful memory or emotion, it doesn’t mean you are going backward. It means a wound has surfaced and is asking for gentle care.

A helpful question:
“What does this part of me need right now—comfort, clarity, or boundaries?”

Triggers are moments of information that guide healing..

November Reflection Prompt

Where have I grown this year, even if no one else has noticed?
Spend 5–10 minutes writing without judgment. Let honesty take the lead.
